Massage has benefits for everyone. For athletes, massage is increasingly seen as an essential tool in helping to achieve optimal performance and to minimise injuries. But for all people it has the benefits of improving the natural balance in the body and to improve general health.
*
The human body is designed to work perfectly with very little maintenance. Plenty of exercise, fresh air, a healthy diet and a good nights sleep go a long way to keep people healthy. But something else that all mammals including humans need is plenty of tactile stimulation. Unfortunately most of us live in a touch deprived world, in fact it is even being somewhat regulated by governments this way. Teachers are not anymore allowed to touch children and any touching is generally being frowned upon - we are scared of being touched.
*
Babies rely on the soothing, loving and reassuring touch of their mother in order to develop into a healthy human being.
*
It is known that just simple touching can reduce the heart rate and/or lower the blood pressure.
*
Adults will benefit from a massage with improved circulation and of course the wonderful feeling of physical human touch. An hour of massage improves the circulation equivalent to a three mile hike.
*
Relief workers in disaster areas pushed to exhaustion are restored, victims in shock from physical or emotional trauma are calmed and relaxed. Patients in acute or chronic pain find relief and can reduce drug use to a minimum as a massage or even a simple touch will signal the brain to produce endorphins, the body's own natural pain suppressors. Surgery wounds will heal faster with less scarring.
*
The massaging of skin and muscles improves circulation and promotes the release of waste products trapped in the tissue. Tense muscles are relaxed and associated pain disappears. The subsequent release of tension stabilises the nervous system and through that brings back the natural balance of the different systems in the body. Achieving this balance is vitally important to the health of body and soul. Massage can improve digestion, relax sore and tight muscles, reduce stress, improve circulation and through that help remove toxins from the body.

* Remedial Massage: To encourage the healing of injured soft tissue such as muscles, tendons and ligaments.
* Swedish Massage: The most popular type of massage designed to relax and improve circulation of the blood and lymphatic systems

* Sports massage: Brings relief to sore muscles and enhances performance.
*
Massage is a natural healing art and also one of the oldest. It should be considered as preventive health care. Just like something mechanical, your body needs to be looked after regularly in order to prevent breakdowns. Massage is a wonderful and relaxing way to do this and you can even do it in your own home.
*
Don't hesitate, get a massage today! Keep on doing it on a regular basis and you will never look back.
