| Author: pp editor, Date Added: 29/Jan/2005, Article Group: Meditation |
| This exercise is designed to connect you with the earth and its inhabitants. You should aim to feel the full emotion of appreciation for all things, not just living things. |
| FIRST STAGE |
| This exercise takes fifteen minutes. Check the time before you begin. |
| Stand in the centre of the room. Ground yourself and feel your centre as calm and relaxed. Look around the room and then go to the first object that you see. You should aim to cover everything in the room, furniture, walls, carpets, even the pictures on your walls. Thank that object for its usefulness in your life. If the object is small enough pick it up and hold it. Go around the room thanking every object for being in your life. Move to other rooms and do the same. As you thank every object feel into your centre and notice how you feel. Go back to the first room and stand in the centre again. |
| SECOND STAGE |
| This exercise takes fifteen minutes. Check the time before you begin. |
| Go round the room again and this time look at each object with as much appreciation as you can feel for its being in your life. With each object take the time to notice how you feel about it. Appreciate how nice it looks, how beautiful it is, how it fits into your home so well. Go around each room. |
| THIRD STAGE |
| This exercise takes fifteen minutes. Check the time before you begin. |
| Go back to the first room. Ground and centre yourself. This time as you go to each object think of all the people who have been involved in its creation to enable you to have that object. Thank each person, regardless that you do not know who they are, who have put their energy into creating that object. Feel gratitude for all the people involved. Think about the raw materials that were needed and where they came from - the earth. Feel gratitude to the earth for providing you with all you have. |
| FOURTH STAGE |
| This exercise takes fifteen minutes. Check the time before you begin. |
| Go back to the first room. Ground and centre yourself. This time go to each object and imagine how your life would be without that object, where you know that you cannot replace it. How would your life be different? How would your life be more difficult? Notice how you feel about losing that object for ever. Take time to fully connect with the feeling of losing of that object. |
| FIFTH STAGE |
| This exercise takes as long as you wish it to. |
| Picture how the whole world is interconnected. That nothing and no-one is separate, that we all depend upon each other to provide us with the things that make our lives easier. |
